CU v. Defense Dept. FOIA Production #1 (Iranian Influence In Biden-Harris Admin)
On January 31, 2024, Citizens United filed a lawsuit against both the State Department and Defense Department for similar records relating to Iran’s influence in the Biden Administration.
On October 26, 2023, CU submitted a FOIA request to the Department of Defense. The request sought:
All emails or text messages to or from Chief of Staff for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict Ariane Tabatabai and any of the following individuals: Robert Malley; Ali Vaez; Dina Esfandiary; Adnan Tabatabai; Saeed Khatibzadeh; Mostafa Zahrani; Trita Parsi; Vali Nasr; Robert Einhorn; Mohammad Javad Zarif; Majid Takht Ravanchi; Kaveh Afrasiabi; Elissa Jobson; or Ellie Geranmayeh.
