DADT: Liberals Out Of Control
The Washington Post’s Richard Cohen has a column out today calling on Marine Corps Commandant James Amos to be removed from his command because he disagreed with the repeal of “don’t ask don’t tell.” General Amos is a Bronze Star recipient and led a Marine Aircraft Wing in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
I think it is a mistake to ignore or ridicule General Amos’ assessment that the repeal of “don’t ask don’t tell” will harm the Marine Corps. According to the Pentagon’s own report, four out of ten marines may leave the Corps because of the repeal of “don’t ask don’t tell.” The Marine Corps mission is to be at the tip of the spear in any conflict. Mr. Cohen’s statement to sack its leader is absurd.
