DISCLOSE Act Hypocrisy

As the Senate again seeks to regulate speech with the DISCLOSE Act tomorrow, many of its Democratic leaders will gather tonight to raise big money to fill their campaign coffers in New York City. President Obama will be meeting with wealthy donors who will pay between $2,500 and $15,200 for the privilege of listening to him rail against the corrupting nature of money in politics. Having a high dollar fundraiser one day, and the next attempting to limit political speech, is hypocrisy at its finest.

Focusing on the DISCLOSE Act just shows how Washington is out of touch. As the President, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi raise money on Madison Avenue, the rest of the country is facing a 9.6 percent unemployment rate.

President Obama and Harry Reid should reevaluate their priorities, and I hope that in the coming weeks they focus on creating jobs – not just saving their own.
