The DISCLOSE Act #FAIL
On the day we received word that consumer spending fell for the third straight month, Harry Reid’s obsession with the DISCLOSE Act was on full display in the United States Senate. Like in 2010, the DISCLOSE Act failed in the U.S. Senate today because it is a fatally flawed bill that chills free speech. Last month the United States Supreme Court reaffirmed its decision in the Citizens United case when it summarily reverses the Montana Supreme Court’s decision in American Tradition Partnership, Inc. v. Bullock.
Reid’s obsession with the DISCLOSE Act is alarming given the state of the economy and the fact that the Senate has not passed a budget for the American people in 1174 days. The American people want their government to work for them, not to continually try to pass flawed legislation that only helps incumbents get reelected.
