No Red Tape!?!?
In the wake of superstorm Sandy that decimated parts of the Jersey coast earlier this week, President Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie stood together and promised that no red tape would hinder the relief response. During times of tragedy and hardship, Americans come together. That’s just what we do.
But after an Alabama electric crew drove all the way up to New Jersey to offer much-needed help to their fellow Americans, it was shocking to learn that they were turned away because they were not members of a union. I wonder how many times this has happened already.
Obama and Christie promised no red tape. To say no to linemen because they are not union members symbolizes that red tape, bureaucracy and special interest groups still take precedence during this crisis. Shameful.
