The U.S. – U.N. Relationship Needs Reform
The United Nations is a broken mess that needs to be reformed now or its existence as a (somewhat) viable international institution will go the way of the Dodo bird. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen unveiled a U.N. reform bill earlier this week – the bill makes it clear to the U.N. that if the member nations vote in favor of Palestinian statehood outside of a negotiated settlement with Israel, American will pull all of its funding from the U.N., among other stipulations. Getting tough with the out-of-touch U.N. is long overdue.
In the Citizens United documentary Broken Promises: The United Nations at 60, we uncover the unbelievable fraud and mismanagement that is going on at the U.N. America must not be the bottomless bank that funds the U.N.’s ineptness. Citizens United will score the Ros-Lehtinen U.N. reform bill vote when the legislation comes to the House floor for our Congressional Ratings. This is one of the most important pieces of foreign relations reform to come before the House of Representatives in quite some time.
