WASHINGTON TIMES: DAVID BOSSIE: Don’t be a panican
President Trump campaigned to accomplish consequential reforms for the American people, and he has delivered in a historic fashion. Mr. Trump didn’t set aside his amazing business career and risk his life to manage the decay in Washington like so many career politicians have been doing for decades.
Our 45th and 47th president is here to make lasting and necessary improvements to our country, and no one can argue that the big changes he is talking about are not long overdue. Make no mistake about it: No one keeps promises like Mr. Trump.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that fundamental change and confronting an entrenched power structure cause some unease. Still, in this case, much of it is being concocted by the same old crew of Trump-deranged lunatics. Whether cutting government waste and abuse across the board, reforming the tax code, tipping the balance on international trade, or seeking peace instead of endless wars, Mr. Trump is laser-focused on implementing the positive change the American people have been starving for. The stale antics of the left will not deter him.

Regarding trade and tariffs specifically, Mr. Trump addressed those expressing anxiety about his “America First” reform agenda when he recently posted, “The United States has a chance to do something that should have been done DECADES AGO. Don’t be Weak! Don’t be Stupid! Don’t be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!). Be Strong, Courageous, and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result!”
With this statement, our fearless commander in chief is asking the American people to trust his vision and reminding them that these policies are just a matter of common sense that weak-kneed defenders of the failed status quo have been blocking for decades. For Mr. Trump, that way of doing business ends now.
The centerpiece of Mr. Trump’s agenda is expanding our economy, and the latest jobs report reflects that his words and deeds are working. Even in the face of Trump haters in the liberal media who are dedicated to talking down the economy for sport, headlines such as “Hiring Defied Expectations in March, With 228,000 New Jobs” make their phony alarmism fall on deaf ears. Even before the passage of his “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” which will supercharge economic growth to record levels, just having Mr. Trump, the business-minded outsider, back at the helm sends a signal to job creators that they once again have a leader fighting for them. Mr. Trump is dedicated to rebuilding our economy because he has done it before, and he is letting folks know daily to trust that big changes are coming soon that will enable all Americans, regardless of socioeconomic status, to prosper like never before.
Mr. Trump campaigned to address the inflation crisis that President Biden’s policies created, and the recent Consumer Price Index report shows good reason for optimism on this front as well. Many believe it’s the best report we’ve seen in years, with core inflation at its lowest point since March 2021, the same month Mr. Biden started his reckless multitrillion-dollar spend-o-rama. Be that as it may, since the day he took office, rudderless Democrats and their allies in the biased mainstream media have been trying to pin “Biden-flation” on Mr. Trump, but to no avail.
Mr. Trump also keeps his promises on trade and tariffs by negotiating fair trade deals with our allies. After announcing his strong opening salvo, scores of countries around the globe immediately started calling the Trump economic team to schedule meetings because opportunities for better trade deals with the United States can never be passed up. Without Mr. Trump’s vision and steel spine, this would never have happened and the broken status quo would have prevailed yet again.
Just like clockwork, Mr. Trump’s political enemies have been waking up every morning hoping for a calamity in the stock market instead of rooting for the success of their country for a change. The American people appreciate what Mr. Trump is doing because it’s only common sense to fight for workers by leveling the playing field with regard to the ridiculously lopsided trade deals that have been in place for years.
Mr. Trump’s success in cutting wasteful federal spending in the early months of his second term in conjunction with Elon Musk and the game-changing Department of Government Efficiency can’t be overlooked. It’s widely seen as the best effort in history to shrink the size and scope of government. Most recently, DOGE discovered that under Mr. Biden, nearly 4 million illegal immigrants received Social Security numbers and 1.3 million illegals are receiving Medicaid. Mr. Trump, Mr. Musk and DOGE are identifying waste and fraud throughout government on a massive scale and are working to fix unacceptable duplication and modernize antiquated systems in the bureaucracy that excel at flummoxing the American people instead of helping.
Even with thin majorities in Congress and doubters in the corrupt establishment saying Republicans can’t possibly stick together, Republicans in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate have defied the odds. They are simply focusing on what’s important above all else: delivering the greatest budget reconciliation bill of all time by Memorial Day for American families who have been struggling for too long. With the recent passage of the budget resolution “blueprint,” congressional Republicans can now get busy passing Trump’s optimistic agenda to lower taxes and inflation, secure the border, unleash American energy, stop our unsustainable national debt, and rebuild our military.
Mr. Trump deserves great credit for fostering a “failure is not an option” mentality on Capitol Hill. Republicans across the political spectrum are on board with the idea that playing as a team will ensure the defeat of those on the other side of the aisle who are rooting for America’s decline. Not even three months into his presidency, Mr. Trump is already making America great again, as promised.
