WASHINGTON TIMES: DAVID BOSSIE: Trump’s West Wing team is firing on all cylinders
We’re just over a month into President Trump’s second term, and the American people are already reaping the benefits of having a strong leader back in the Oval Office.
Mr. Trump’s no-nonsense, shock-and-awe governing style is producing positive results at a record clip, whether on the border, government spending, foreign policy or the culture war. Although Mr. Trump’s force of will and unrivaled political power drive the success, his team hit the ground running and is firing on all cylinders.
Mr. Trump has surrounded himself with a talented and loyal group of professional political outsiders dedicated to reforming America, not managing her decay.

It starts with Vice President J.D. Vance, who has proved to be a maestro in communication and advancing the president’s policies. Mr. Vance is a principled conservative leader who is wise beyond his years. Every time he dismantles an activist journalist from the liberal media on live television, it becomes a “get the popcorn” event. The vice president’s strong high-profile remarks directed at Europe’s festering immigration and free speech problems represented a stunning contrast with the weak performance of the previous occupant of the office.
In the West Wing, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and her stellar team are executing Mr. Trump’s game plan with essentially error-free baseball. Without reports of leaks, infighting or freelancing, the Democrat opposition is on the defensive and reeling. The well-oiled machine the president has put together with Ms. Wiles is a marked difference from the early days of his first administration. This time, there is total consensus that the sheer scope of the job leaves no room for petty behavior or drama.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is dealing with the fake news media effectively by talking directly to the American people and opening the White House to more journalists instead of liberal activists, which has been an unfortunate tradition until now. It’s also worth noting that White House staff are doing an excellent job working with senators to outmaneuver left-wing obstruction tactics to get Mr. Trump’s Cabinet confirmed rapidly. Amazing things happen when Republicans stick together and stay focused on saving the republic.
There’s no doubt that Mr. Trump’s commonsense law and order strategy is achieving lightning-quick results on the border. The triumvirate of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, border czar Tom Homan and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller demonstrate that strong leadership and adherence to the Constitution are game changers. Their rock-star performance also makes it clear that the Biden administration deliberately opened the border and could have fixed the situation years ago if it cared about the safety of American citizens. This fact must never be forgotten or forgiven.
The Democrats’ unhinged reaction to Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has been priceless and telling. Even in the face of a $36 trillion national debt, the idea of fiscal responsibility seems too much for the left to handle.
Watching career Democratic politicians on Capitol Hill attack this “good government” project is truly entertaining. It’s a stroke of genius by Messrs. Trump and Musk because most Americans believe that trillions of dollars in government fraud and waste is unacceptable and must be remedied immediately. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries should consider making this a bipartisan issue before their party goes off the cliff defending the broken status quo. This president is on a mission to reform government and reverse our budget deficit, come hell or high water.
Mr. Trump’s showstopping “do it all, do it now” approach appears to be rubbing off on scores of Republicans in Congress. Many legislators look downright liberated by this president’s decisive actions to rescue our financially ailing country. Hopefully, the speed at which the Senate gets the Cabinet approved is a harbinger of things to come. The Republican majority needs to remain 100% united on passing the president’s agenda on taxes, energy, border security and budget cuts without delay. There’s no better way to expand Republican numbers in Congress in 2026 than by delivering on the promises made to voters now. The Republicans must not give the radical Democrats an opening to cause trouble.
Jan. 20, 2025, will be remembered as a day of hope and promise for anyone who believes in American exceptionalism and a great comeback story. For the radical left, the return of President Trump has been an unmitigated nightmare. If you think about it, if the 2020 presidential election hadn’t been rigged during the fog of the COVID-19 pandemic, none of this would be happening right now. Democrats have only themselves to blame.
