Washington Times – Film on Conservative Women to be Filmed at Smart Girl Summit this Week
Citizen’s United premiered its film Fire from the Heartland in Washington D.C last week at the Georgetown Loews theater. The film, which spotlights the rise of conservative women, includes commentary from Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Rep. Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Rep. Jean Schmidt of Ohio, and a number of conservative luminaries from Phyllis Schlafly to Ann Coulter among others.
Fire from the Heartland, directed by Stephen Bannon and produced by David Bossie,covers various stories about women within the contemporary conservative movement from Clare Boothe Luce to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. A number of women took activist roles within the tea party movement following the election of President Barack Obama. Mr. Bannon took note of these first time political activists.
“I told Dave, that it’s amazing you not only have women leading this [tea party movement] but that most of them have been apolitical up until a couple of years ago. Most of them are in their mid thirties to their mid-forties, and they’re tremendous leaders,” said Mr. Bannon when I asked what made him want to make this film now…
