While President Obama was trying to take a victory lap for kicking the fiscal can down the road yet again, he let slip that his next priority will be immigration reform. Well, if data from his own polling firm are any guide his push for amnesty may end up being more unpopular than Obamacare.
According to poll from Obama’s own Benenson Strategy Group and GOP establishment firm Public Opinion Strategies just 12 percent of American independents support an amnesty for illegal immigrants. That’s lower than independent support for Obamacare, which is pretty low.
In fact, the poll finds that the only group who supports amnesty are the hard-core liberals – and even then only by 51 percent. This is ground conservatives and Republicans can fight on and win because the American people simply do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants.
