“The recent admissions that the Obama Administration offered jobs to two individuals who were considering primary challenges to the White House’s favored candidates is troubling. But what is even more troubling is that the Democrat-controlled Congress accepted the White House’s explanation that ‘nothing inappropriate happened’ at face value. Congress is not a subsidiary of the Democratic Party – it is a co-equal branch of government with a duty to the American people to exercise its investigatory and oversight powers over the Executive branch. Congress can trust, but it also must verify.
