Finally Some Fiscal Sanity

Republicans were successful last night in beating back a $1.1 trillion spending bill that was loaded with pork, and would continue to put America’s fiscal future in the hole. The Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate had a year to come up with a fiscally responsible spending bill and failed. Democrats thought they could ram this bill through the Senate based on years past. Finally some fiscal sanity has settled over Washington. One can only hope it is start of a new trend. When the 112th Congress convenes next month, major spending cuts and reforms have to be made. This is no time for trimming around the edges. There is a big elephant in the room – it’s our $13,800,000,000,000 debt – and it can’t be ignored for another second.
