House Reading The Constitution

The tone that is being set on the second day of the 112th Congress might not get many flashy headlines but it has great meaning. For the first time in our nation’s history, the entire United States Constitution is being read on the House floor. Our legislators must understand the roots of our great Republic. By reading the Constitution I hope our newly elected Congress will understand how the previous Congress failed the American people by not basing many significant pieces of legislation on the Constitution. The reason for the Democrats’ “forgetfulness” regarding the Constitution is, of course, that the failed idea of big government liberalism doesn’t fit into the Founders’ intentions and never will. Hopefully this new Congress will pay attention and remember the words they read today.
