SOTU: Obama’s False Promises

Once again, at the State of the Union, President Obama delivered a speech that was full of promises but short on details. The 800 pound gorilla in the room was again present. The debt now stands over $14 trillion and is climbing uncontrollably. America is already buried under a mountain of debt. Real entitlement reforms need to take place in order to get our fiscal house in order.

We have tough decisions to make in this country but the President only addressed the debt in a few short paragraphs, while devoting a majority of his speech to new spending. Obama, talking about the debt, said:

“Now, the final critical step in winning the future is to make sure we aren’t buried under a mountain of debt.”

Next month we will all see if President Obama is serious about the debt when he presents his budget to Congress. President Obama has talked like a centrist before, but…
