Democrat Stimulus Package Heavy on Pork, Light on Jobs
Despite promises of reform from both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue over the last two years, the $825 billion stimulus package written without even a fig leaf of bipartisanship contains astronomical sums of pork barrel spending that will do nothing to create jobs for unemployed Americans.
A glance at some of the more egregious provisions of the bill reveals such job-free spending as:
1. $200 million for National Mall repairs including grass planting
2. $6 billion to make Federal Buildings more energy efficient
3. $600 million for analog televisions
4. $300 million rebates for purchasing energy efficient appliances

Even worse, just one day after 70,000 jobs were lost, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office announced that it would take 1.5 years for 2/3 of the $825 billion to reach the economy.
“This is not a time for political favors to be doled out at the expense of Americans who are unemployed and in need of jobs, said David Bossie, President of Citizens United. Yesterday, 70,000 Americans woke up to the news that they no longer have jobs. How will spending $200 million of their hard earned money on sod for the National Mall help them pay their kids college tuition or their mortgages?”
