A Majority Of The Majority Want A Select Committee On Benghazi

Washington, DC — Citizens United President David N. Bossie issued the following statement calling on Speaker of the House John Boehner to honor the Hastert Rule and bring H. Res. 36 to the floor of the House of Representatives. H. Res. 36 if passed would instruct Congress to appoint a select committee to investigate the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya that took the lives of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other brave Americans.

“It is incumbent upon Speaker John Boehner to take the Benghazi select committee resolution to the House floor now that it has the support of the majority of the majority with 117 co-sponsors that run the ideological spectrum,” said David N. Bossie, President of Citizens United. “Four Americans were murdered by terrorists over seven months ago and we still do not have any accountability because the various investigations by standing committees have been incomplete and unfocused. The mother of Sean Smith and the father of Ty Woods support this important resolution and I want to commend Congressman Frank Wolf for his steadfast leadership in shepherding this resolution through the House to this point.”

Citizens United has launched a grassroots campaign in support of H. Res. 36 that has netted over 5,000 letters so far to urge the House to take up this important resolution and Citizens United’s members have made hundreds of calls to their representatives.
