More Than 50% Of House Democrats Vote For Business As Usual In “Clean” Debt Ceiling Vote
When the debt ceiling debate began not long ago, the Obama Administration was demanding a “clean” debt vote. On Tuesday, even 82 House Democrats said “no way” to this irresponsible position! This is a rebuke of President Obama’s initial call to action concerning the debt and it highlights how out-of-touch he is with everyday Americans.
But 97 of the 192-member House Democrat caucus voted to continue the failing status quo by voting in favor of increasing the debt limit by another $2.4 trillion to an unimaginable $16.7 trillion. These 97 Democrats bucked the will of the American people by saying they will continue the out-of-control spending and business-as-usual that will cripple America for generations to come.
Thankfully the vote to raise the debt ceiling failed 318 – 97 and a line has been drawn in the sand; the debt limit will not be increased unless it is accompanied by substantial spending cuts and reforms.
